Buscopan

Buscopan is used to provide relief from tummy cramps, pain and discomfort, including irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).

Active Ingredient

Each tablet contains 10mg of Hyoscine Butylbromide as the active ingredient.  Please see product packaging for a full list of other ingredients.  Each pack contains 40 tablets.

Who can use Buscopan?

Buscopan can be used by adults and children aged 12 years and over.

Dose

Tummy cramps – take two tablets up to four times daily.  Swallow the tablets whole with a glass of water.

Irritable bowel syndrome – start by taking one tablet three times daily.  If more relief is needed, you can increase the doe to a maximum of two tablets four times daily.

Side Effects and Cautions

Reported side effects include dry mouth and dry eyes.  If your vision is affected, do not drive or operare machinery.  Please see patient information leaflet for a full list of known side effects.

You should not used Buscopan if you suffer from glaucoma, myasthenia gravis or megacolon, or if you are allergic to any of the product ingredients.

Pregnancy or Breastfeeding

Consult your doctor before using if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Storage

Store Buscopan tabletss below 30ºC and remember to keep all medicine out of sight and reach of children. You should return any unused or date expired medicines to your pharmacist for safe destruction.
