Canesten Thrush Cream

Canesten Thrush Cream is used to treat thrush infection the vulva.  It can also be used to treat thrush infection of the vagina.  The penis of a sexual partner can also be treated to prevent re-infection occurring.

Who is this medicine for

This medicine can be used by adults and children aged 12 years and over.

How to use Canesten Thrush Cream

Wash your hands before and after use.  Apply a thin film of Canesten Thrush Cream to the affected areas twice or three times a day and rub in gently.  Continue until symptoms disappear.  Consult a doctor if there is no improvement after 7 days.  When using on the penis, apply twice or three times daily for 2 weeks.

Precautions

Do not use this product if you are allergic to any of the active ingredients.  If you feel that the product is not working or if your symptoms are getting worse please check with your doctor or pharmacist.   Do not use tampons, intravaginal douches, spermicides, or other vaginal products when using this medicine.  Avoid sexual intercourse until symptoms are gone.

Pregnancy and Breast Feeding

You should avoid this medicine during the first trimester (three months) of pregnancy.  Check with your doctor for all other times during pregnancy.  We also advise against using Canesten Thrush Cream if you are breastfeeding.

Ingredients

Contains Clotrimazole 2% w/w as the active ingredient.  The other ingredients include benzyl alcohol, polysorbate 60, sorbitan stearate, cetyl palmitate, octyldodecanol and purified water.  Pack size 20g.

How to store Canesten Thrush Cream

Do not store above 25°C.  Do not use the product after the expiry date marked on the pack.  Keep all medicines out of reach of children and remember to return all unused or out of date medicines to your pharmacy for safe disposal.
